Outside of battle, characters use different, blockier models. However, being less blown away by its tricks and effects, the game feels imbalanced today: Strong emphasis on a story - which is told in an incoherent way. Tons of mini-games and short action sequences - but they suffer from clunky controls and often lack balance and pace. An abundance of items, equipment and magic, and an interesting concept of how they interact with each other - yet most of it is utterly useless in battle. Still a great game, but I have to admit that the appeal for me is nostalgia and technical fascination. It does not hold up as well as the older Square greats like FFVI, Secret of Mana or Chrono Trigger, which I believe I would enjoy if I played them for the first time today. With FFVII, I am not so sure.
Shinra's base of operations is the metropolis of Midgar ringed by eight mako reactors that drain Mako for energy. While the upper city is an industrial powerhouse with a generally high quality of life, the lower city is made up of slums and receives little light and its air is polluted.
"One-Winged Angel", the theme used during a part of the final battle against Sephiroth, is recognized by many as final fantasy vii one of Uematsu's best works. The track uses high-quality digitized voices, a first for the series.

While pelo release date for the third and final installment has been mentioned, we likely won't be waiting quite as long to see how the story ends. Creative director Tetsuya Nomura stated the team is already working on part three.
